Ex- Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have announced that a former physician has been charged with performing assaults against thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
The Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A senior CPS official stated, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
The charges come after what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
List of Charges
Prosecutors said the 45 charges he is charged with:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
