Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outscored his teammate at all of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the dying seconds of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the points lead from Piastri by one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, outpaced the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before sprint qualifying set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, trailing with a 36-point deficit Norris, finished in 17th place as his Red Bull team opted for a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, if briefly, when he lost control at the fourth corner early in the session.
Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before sliding over the escape zone, and was blessed to escape with just a minor contact of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the very end of the session, turning around through the fast downhill Mergulho corner approaching the final bend on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton ended the session in 19th, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber in third, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
