Recent details have emerged regarding the shocking deaths of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were located at their residence residence on Sunday.

The Initial Report

According to a report quoting a person close to the family, a therapist scheduled for an session initially became concerned after failing to get inside the home. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives nearby.

Upon entering the home, Romy discovered her father's body. It is said she then left the home distraught, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Her roommate who had accompanied her contacted 911. Afterward, paramedics located Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Proceedings

The police have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of first-degree murder, along with the charge related to a weapon, reportedly a knife. He is currently in custody without bail.

Clarifications

The anonymous source challenged several previously reported details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the estate, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that moment.

Additionally pushed back against circulated suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "concerned" about Nick's conduct in the preceding period. Instead the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."

The statement applies to reports of alleged "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a party hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the bodies were found. Although the source noted they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they asserted that reports of a "major confrontation" between the two were not correct.

Ongoing Inquiry Timeline

Per law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had yet to determine at that point whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Some accounts noted the state of their bodies pointed to they had been dead for a number of hours.

Nick Reiner was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, roughly 15 miles from the family home. He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would not appear until Wednesday at the earliest.
