Nigel Farage Accuses Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues

Nigel Farage has asserted that educators would initiate walkouts shortly after a success at the polls for his party, accusing them of “poisoning our kids” by instructing students that black pupils are victims and white children oppressors.

During an event for a Michigan-based religious institution, the politician expressed his perspective on the UK education system, claiming that the “Marxist left” had “now in control of our education system”.

“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike soon after securing a victory,” he remarked during a Q&A session.

“They are corrupting young minds. They instruct children to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is oppressed and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is a perpetrator. They create division, not uniting us. They are feeding this negative culture.”

In response to these assertions, Daniel Kebede dismissed the idea that the schools were under Marxist influence as “nonsense”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and questioned whether the party would target these immediately upon entering government.

“Farage has built his political career on coded rhetoric and now, like Trump, he is lining up teachers and their organizations for a fight,” the union leader said.

“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. Neither I nor our union – advocate such divisive theories as he’s suggesting … If he were to lead the government he would sell out our public services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for students and learning.”

Reform, which tops surveys by a significant margin, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.

Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks suggested the party would overhaul the educational framework. He said: “We face an enormous task with schooling – absolutely herculean. And, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it will take us years, years to turn this around.”

He stated that younger generations are receptive to analytical thought, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.

Paying tribute to a conservative activist, he commented: “All I want education to do to foster independent thought – to instruct people that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind rather than current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. This is a huge undertaking in the UK and US.”

The party has conflicted with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “far right and racist” and described the leader as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.

The politician has charged Kebede of being “a self-declared Marxist” … an individual intent that our children should be poisoned through education, their thinking tainted about everything to do with this country” and has argued that the union is trying to indoctrinate teenagers against Reform.

Roughly a million individuals are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The leading teachers’ organization has about 450,000 members.

National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in recent years caused widespread disruption in schools and extensive missed instruction for children.

At the US event, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He stated organizations like it were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I mean this. I will help attract vast numbers of youth to these educational programs. I pledge this tonight and I’ll do that.”

The institution, a religious educational establishment, offers free courses. According to its online description: “Comprehensive learning is necessary for personal happiness and to perpetuate the blessings of civil and religious liberty. It offers these beautiful courses for no charge to every interested learner.”
