Slot Insists He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was natural for questions to be asked about his position after another heavy defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in twelve games, representing the club's poorest streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a tough night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got a lot of support from management,” Slot commented.

“It's important to change things and get a victory naturally but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I accept my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Talks with The Board

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me all the time of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “During our regular conversations we have I sense the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them after this match yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Issues and Player Response

Slot lamented known failings from his team in their European loss, specifically wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a period such as this with results this poor.”

Jones stated, “However we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we’re always going to battle.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to the top, show everyone again what this club is about and the reason it's called the greatest side in the planet.”

“But right now, things are bad and it needs to change.”
