Three Shortlisted for Young Sports Star Prize

English soccer star Michelle Agyemang, darts player Luke Littler and cricketer Davina Perrin have been shortlisted for the 2025 Young Athlete of the Year award.
These three athletes have been celebrated for their exceptional achievements over the previous year.
Agyemang was instrumental as the Lionesses win Euro 2025, Littler claimed the world title for the very first time, and Perrin burst onto the scene with a historic innings.
Littler claimed this honour in 2024 after his breakthrough year.
The finalists were revealed during a live broadcast on a popular morning radio program.
This year's winner will be revealed live on the prestigious sports ceremony show on the 18th of December.
The show will be aired from 7 PM GMT.
Michelle Agyemang
Age: 19 Sport: Football
Just three months after her senior team debut, Agyemang played a crucial and game-changing role in England's run to European Championship victory.
She entered the fray to score key tying goals in both the quarter-final and semi-final.
Her incredible contributions led to her being named the tournament's top young talent.
Afterwards, she was awarded the Golden Girl award for the finest emerging star on the continent.
She was also in contention for the Kopa Trophy for the world's best under-21 female player.
Agyemang, who has been at Brighton in a temporary move from Arsenal, ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament in October.
"To be named a finalist for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a privilege," said Agyemang. "I'm grateful to God and I'm thankful for the support I've received from my family, coaches, team-mates and fans."
Luke Littler
Age: 18 Sport: Darts
Littler kicked off the year in incredible form as - aged 17 - he became the most youthful world title winner in history.
He secured a comprehensive triumph over Michael van Gerwen in the final.
His later win at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth player to complete the prestigious three major tournament wins.
He didn't stop there - his triumph in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he ascended to world number one for the maiden occasion.
At 18, he is the earliest achiever to do so, breaking the previous record.
"Earning a spot on the shortlist for this award again is a huge privilege," stated Littler. "My victory in 2024 was a highlight for me and I've had another amazing 12 months. I want to continue elevating darts."
The Cricket Sensation
Age: 19 Sport: Cricket
Perrin is one of English cricket's most exciting young talents and surged to prominence with an unbelievable and unprecedented innings in August.
Her brilliant 42-ball century in The Hundred is the fastest by an English woman in T20s.
It also stands as the equal third-quickest women's T20 century in a major league or full member T20 international.
Perrin finished second in the batting rankings and was named the young player of the year by the PCA.
"I'm truly honoured to be named a finalist for the Young Sports Personality of the Year award," expressed Perrin. "It's a very special feeling. I hope it encourages more young women to get into cricket."
